Puto Pao
Puto are a steamed cake – similar to a cup cake – that are sweet with a firm texture. They can be flavoured (such as puto ube) – or stuffed (like puto pao).
The ‘pao’ comes from sao pao – a filipino version of a steamed bread bun (from cantonese ‘cha siu bao’) which is stuffed with a pork mixture.
They contain pork, milk, eggs, wheat, and soya.
